Biohazard 4 Perfect Capture Guide Translation

The Perfect Guide is an additional source material for Biohazard 4.

As with other sources, it contains useful information concerning the lead characters and B.O.Ws from the game. The Perfect Capture Guide also features a direct connection and link to the background of Resident Evil Gaiden.  Considering that Resident Evil 4 effectively abandoned any storyline Gaiden may have been setting up, this connection with Barry Burton is surprising.

This book has been translated by REP staff member, theBatman.

CHARACTER: (Pages 2-5)

LEON S. KENNEDY:

Six years have passed since the nightmare incident in Raccoon City. He was a rookie police officer at that time, but now serves as an agent of the United States. This time, he is supposed to protect the President and his family, but an emergency situation arises when the President’s daughter is kidnapped. In order to investigate the case in secret, he travels alone to Europe, based on eyewitness testimony.

*He went to the village where the sighting was reported and tried to question the villagers.

But…

*A new enemy, not a zombie, stands in his way. Is this a repeat of the nightmare from six years ago?

ASHLEY GRAHAM:

Daughter of the President of the United States. She was enrolled in a university in Massachusetts and is 20 years old. She was kidnapped by someone on her way home from university and disappeared, but a search was launched based on sightings in Europe. The identity and purpose of the kidnappers are unclear.

*She does not know why she was kidnapped, but she is still waiting for help.

*Leon’s mission is to find the kidnapped girl and return her safely to the United States.

INGRID HUNNIGAN:

She is a colleague who has been assigned to investigate this case alongside Leon. She sends the necessary information for the investigation through his communication device. She provides support in various ways, such as requesting assistance for Leon’s situation and directing him on his escape route.

*In the early stages, Leon can rely on her instructions. But after the middle stage, the communication equipment is hijacked, and she is rarely heard from again.

OSMUND SADDLER:

He is the head of the religious group Los Iluminados. He has a strong influence in the surrounding hamlets and his portrait can be seen everywhere in the village.

RAMON SALAZAR:

The lord of an old castle in the area where Ashley was sighted. He has invested heavily in the Los Iluminados and is an avid believer himself.

BITOREZ MENDEZ:

A large man who serves as chief of the village. He is also a priest who preaches the teachings of Los Iluminados and is one of Saddler’s loyal followers.

JACK KRAUSER:

He is an American mercenary with outstanding combat abilities who has had dealings with Leon in the past. They are reunited during the investigation of this case, but his purpose is unknown.

He is the head of the religious group Los Iluminados. He has a strong influence in the surrounding hamlets and his portrait can be seen everywhere in the village.

ADA WONG:

A mysterious beauty who Leon met in Raccoon City. She seems to be an agent belonging to some organisation but her background, including her nationality and age, are unknown.

LUIS SERA:

A mysterious man rescued by Leon after he was imprisoned by the villagers. He is familiar with the inner workings of the cult and seems to know something about the incident.

CREATURE: (Pages 52-84)

GANADO (VILLAGER):

These poor villagers have been parasitised by the Plaga and become puppets of the cult. They are usually engaged in farming at the village, but once they see an intruder, they go berserk and attack with farming tools and sickles in their hands.

GANADO (HERETIC):

Believers of the cult parasitised by the Plaga. The colours of their robes and shape of their masks vary depending on their position in the cult. They use more practical combative weapons than the villagers, including trebuchets.

GANADO (SOLDIER):

The soldiers in charge of guarding an isolated island where the cult is based. They all carry Plaga parasites and are loyal servants of the cult. Because of their combat training, they are the toughest and most skilled in weapons handling.

GANADO (CHAINSAW)

A Ganado attacking with a chainsaw. This machine, usually used to cut down trees, has become a fearsome weapon that can easily cut a human in half. In addition, all those who appear in the main story are villager types.

GANADO (GATLING):

A soldier-type Ganado with a Gatling Gun that can fire dozens of rounds per second. As can be expected from their robust bodies, they are much tougher than other Ganado, and their strong arms are also a threat.

SNAKE:

A small snake. It is not aggressive, but it can bite when startled. They are not venomous, so their bites do not cause much damage.

CROW:

Crows that inhabit the village and castle. They are not aggressive and will fly away when a person approaches or if started by the sound gunfire.

CHICKEN:

These are chickens kept on the farm that run freely around the village. They regularly lay eggs (which can restore strength), so killing them is a waste.

BASS

A black bass that lives in lakes and reservoirs. In addition to the standard size, there are also huge lunker-sized fish. They are edible and can restore physical strength.

PLAGA:

A mysterious creature sealed away in the bowels of a castle. It has the ability to parasitise other creatures and can freely manipulate its host at will. The cult led by Saddler used this ability to infect humans with the Plaga and create the Ganado.

COLMILLOS:

These dogs, which have been parasitised by the Plaga, have become extremely aggressive and attack intruders with their agile movements. Salazar, the lord of the castle, highly values their ferociousness, and several of them are kept in the castle garden as guard dogs.

DEL LAGO:

An enormous salamander that was released by Saddler into the lake near the village. The reason for its enormous size is unknown. One of the two police officers who escorted Leon to the village ends up being fed to the Del Lago.

EL GIGANTE:

A mutant that was born as a result of an experiment to parasitise humans with the Plaga. It is hard to believe they were originally human, and it has a huge physique. It is so violent that even several Ganado cannot restrain it.

BITOREZ MENDEZ:

This is the transformation of Mendez, having been engulfed in flames. The upper and lower halves of his body barely retain any human form, but the long spine that connects them is completely alien. He uses the tentacles on his back to launch a variety of attacks.

GARRADOR:

A humanoid creature wearing a metal mask. Its body are equipped with armour and can repel bullets. It has lost its eyesight completely and relies on its hearing to find intruders, attacking them with its huge claws.

NOVISTADOR:

An insect-like creature created with human-based application experiments with the Plaga.

Some can disappear and some can fly, but both are highly ferocious for the cult to control with ease.

ARMADURA:

A guard at Salazar castle who was parasitised by the Plaga and turned into a Ganado. He is charged with guarding treasures closely associated with the Salazar and will attack anyone handling the treasures if they are not the head of the family or a senior vassal.

VERDUGO:

A human-insectoid parasitised by the Plaga. He wears a crimson robe and is a close aide to the lord of the castle, Salazar, who keeps him in the shadows. But when ordered, he will execute anyone who endangers the cult.

RAMON SALAZAR:

The Salazar family had been able to supress the power of the Los Iluminados cult. Although he was lord of the castle, he was fascinated with Saddler, and this foolish 8th generation head accepted the Plaga himself. He combines with the butler who served as his aide to become the last guardian of the old castle.

REGENERADOR:

It has a remarkable metabolic capacity and can immediately regenerate destroyed body tissue when under attack. It is a unique creature among those born from biological experiments using the Plaga.

IRON MAIDEN:

A creature of the same lineage as the Regenerador and can be identified by the spines protruding from its body. It has successfully acquired more advanced combat ability whilst maintaining the same regenerative abilities as the Regeneradors.

U-3:

A mysterious creature that breaks through the rocky walls of the cave where Leon is tracking Ashley. With its human-like head, it is most likely a mutant created during the process of studying Plaga parasitism on humans.

JACK KRAUSER:

A highly-skilled mercenary who uses a variety of weapons, from knives and machine guns to explosive arrows from a bow. He is accompanied by a small combat robot called ‘Seeker’ and challenges Leon to a decisive battle. He has a Plaga parasitised within his body and transforms just before the final showdown.

SEEKER:

A portable combat bot that supports Krauser in battle. There are two types, flying and ground based, and they move independently to attack. They are equipped with machine guns and bombs, and although they are small, their firepower is not to be underestimated.

OSMUND SADDLER:

Using the power of the Plaga that dwells within his body, Saddler has transformed himself. He showed only a glimpse of his power when he killed Luis, but in the battle with Leon, he unleashes all of his power and changes into a completely different form.

THE 1998 RACCOON CITY TRAGEDY

The world is shaken by the launch of the sterilisation operation leading to the destruction of

Raccoon City.

A DARK PLAN NOT SUPPOSED TO FALL APART. A CITY THAT COULD NOT BE SAVED.

The RPD to which US agent Leon once belonged for a single day was located in the midwestern town of Raccoon City; a city that vanished and shook the world six years ago. Leon was intrigued by the bizarre events that occur frequently in a city which seemingly has no connection with violent crime and asks to be assigned there. However, on his first day, he arrives in the city after dark and is greeted by a crowd of the living dead. They are people infected with a virus called ‘T’, research material for Bio-Organic-Weapons (more commonly known as B.O.W.), which was being developed by a local company, Umbrella, without public knowledge.

In the wake of a virus leak in May, seven of the twelve members of S.T.A.R.S. lost their lives in a desperate search to find the source of the virus and succeeded in blowing up the executive headquarters and Arklay underground laboratory. It seemed that the spread of the virus had been stopped, but a few months later, the t-Virus leaked out due to a struggle over the new virus ‘G’. The city soon became the stage of an unprecedented catastrophe and was sealed off by the U.S. Military. Shortly afterwards, a ‘sterilisation operation’ was carried out to wipe out the city using a new type of bomb equivalent to a nuclear weapon.

MOVEMENTS OF FORMER S.T.A.R.S. PERSONNEL

The Redfield siblings:

Claire, the younger sister who escaped with Leon, follows her brother Chris who flew to Europe. They meet again after travelling from Paris to Antarctica.

Jill Valentine:

In S.T.A.R.S., she was the last one to escape, but then set out to join Chris. Her current whereabouts are unknown.

Barry Burton:

After leaving to join up with Chris and the others, he meets Leon in a certain organisation. It is unknown if he is still an agent.

THE DISAPPEARING UMBRELLA

The Giant Multinational Corporation that caused the demise of Raccoon. The Truth behind the Organisation.

DISCOVERING A POWER TO SEIZE THE WORLD HIDDEN UNDER THE VEIL OF A CLEAN ENTERPRISE

The company name and symbol represent the ‘umbrella’ that expresses a desire to ‘preserve the health of the people’, and the face of Umbrella is a huge, clean, multinational corporation known throughout the world. In reality, however, the Umbrella Corporation is a deadly enterprise that promotes the development and sale of biological weapons using viruses. Their customer base included governments from various countries.

In 1967, the founder, Oswell E. Spencer, along with his peer Edward Ashford and his schoolmate James Marcus, discovered the Progenitor Virus which had the ability to recombine the genes of a living organism. This was the beginning of everything, and Umbrella was established the following year as a camouflage to the public to promote research on this unknown virus and develop a battle-ready version of B.O.W.

A DISASTER CAUSED BY LEADERSHIP CONFLICT DURING THE DEVELOPMENT PROCESS

About 10 years after its foundation, the prospect of B.O.W. commercialisation was finally within reach. But Dr Marcus, who had achieved the first positive results, was killed by Spencer, with whom he had an ongoing feud. Development was taken over by Dr. Birkin and following completion of the human-based combat B.O.W. ‘Tyrant’, the t-Virus project reached a degree of conclusion.

Birkin continued to devote himself to the ‘G Project’, which was based on an unknown concept. But close to completion of G, a conflict emerged between Birkin and Umbrella. As a result, the t-Virus spread into Raccoon City as if to mock all the conflicting parties involved.

This unprecedented catastrophe resulted in the implantation of the ‘sterilization operation’ by the United States Government, and Umbrella soon disappeared from the main stage thanks to a business suspension order and stock price crash.

FROM UMBRELLA’S ESTABLISHMENT TO THE PRESENT DAY

November 1967: Discovery of the ‘Progenitor’ Virus.

(Founding members of Umbrella) Oswell E. Spencer, Edward Ashford, James Marcus.

April 1968: Umbrella is established. In efforts to develop Progenitor for practical use, experiments on insects, amphibians, and other species were conducted, but all failed to show intelligence, making development difficult.

September 1977: Marcus’ research results in the first ‘T-Virus’ strain by combining Leech DNA with the Progenitor Virus.

March 3rd 1983: At the Antarctic base, Alexia, a descendant of the Ashford family, succeeded in developing ‘T-Veronica’ using the genes of a queen ant.

Mid-September 1998: Dr Birkin, who took over Marcus’s work, completes the G-Virus. However, his arbitrary actions lead to internal conflicts.

October 1998: The U.S. Government issues a business suspension order against Umbrella, blaming them for the disappearance of Raccoon City. In response, its stock prices plummet, and the company is brought to the brink of collapse.

THOSE WHO ACT FOR THE COMPANY

Former United States Agent Jack Krauser It is unclear what kind of organisation he belongs to, but he has infiltrated Los Iluminados in order to steal a sample of a new product called ‘Plaga’. His well-trained body and skills are his weapons.

Special Ops, Hunk:

The man known as the Grim Reaper. When Raccoon disappeared, he completed his mission to assassinate Dr. Birkin and recover the G-Virus without difficulty and returned alone. He also demonstrated his abilities against the Ganado.

UNDERGROUND ACTIVITIES OF THE THIRD ORGANISATION

The organisation that has been after Umbrella is now targeting the sealed parasite.

A MAN WHO KNOWS OF THE EXISTENCE OF A RIVAL ORGANISATION TO THE LEADING B.O.W. DEVELOPER

Albert Wesker was the former captain of S.T.A.R.S, a special forces unit operating out of Raccoon City. He solved many cases with his keen insight and knowledge of bio-engineering, but in reality, he was a special operative who had devoted himself to Umbrella since the age of 17.

As a practitioner, a lot was expected of him by the upper management, and he sometimes took part in internal leadership battles and would not hesitate to commit murder. However, he did not have the best of reputations and soon became frustrated. It was the bombing of the Arklay Institute in July 1998 when he was ordered to cover-up the situation. Umbrella, who were in danger of being damaged by the virus leakage accident in May, took advantage of the incident to collect B.O.W. combat data then hide the evidence from the public.

INFLUENTIAL INFORMATION VIA ESPIONAGE RESULTS IN THE ACQUISITION OF ‘G’

Under the pretence of following orders, Wesker obtained the humanoid B.O.W. ‘Tyrant’ that was expected to be mass-produced as a combat weapon, then planned to move to the third organisation which he had previously been invited to for some time. Then July arrived and the plan was proceeding smoothly, but in the final phase S.T.A.R.S. destroyed the Tyrant, his biggest prize.

Two months later and his evaluation with his newly affiliated organisation had collapsed, but there soon came the chance to recover. With the help of Ada, a spy who had already infiltrated Umbrella, he obtained information that the G-Virus was nearing completion. Working with Ada, he puts a plan to seize ‘G’ into action. During the course of the mission, they were forced to change their plans by the arrival of Leon, a rookie police officer, but they finally succeeded in capturing the G-Virus.

ORGANISATION INFILTRATION ACTIVITY

After July 1998: Arklay Laboratory is destroyed, Wesker still joins the Third Organisation despite losing his biggest prize.

Around August 1998: Ada infiltrates the Raccoon City Underground Laboratory and obtains information that ‘G’ is almost completed.

September 30th 1998: Ada and Wesker’s actions lead to the successful acquisition of ‘G’ sample from Umbrella.

December 27th 1998: Wesker attacks Umbrella’s Military Training Facility on Rockfort Island using B.O.W.s.

December 27th 1998: Wesker infiltrates Umbrella’s Antarctic base and targets the t-Veronica Virus.

Unknown date, 2004: Ada infiltrates an island in Europe controlled by the Los Iluminados cult.

Unknown date, 2004: Ada successfully obtains a sample of the Plaga from the Los Iluminados cult.

ADA WONG, SPY

When she infiltrated Raccoon City with Leon, she had a weakness not befitting of a spy and was swept away by emotion. But, in 2004, when they meet again, there was no trace of that.

THE EVIL CULT OF LOS ILUMINADOS

Having acquired the power to rule, the evil Order is dedicated to the purification of the sinful human world

A MYSTERIOUS CULT WITH THE POWER TO MANIPULATE ITS FOLLOWERS,

SEALED DEEP BENEATH A CASTLE

Once, in a small village in a corner of Europe, ruled by the Salazar family, a cult called the Los Iluminados was born. Before long, its numbers of followers increased, and under the direction of the leader, the cult became violent and began to attack people. The Salazar family, fearful of the cult’s power, discovers that their secret lies with the parasitic organism ‘Plaga’. The first lord of the castle, who won the battle to stop this heresy that was destroying his way of life, sealed the secret away deep within his own castle. Many years later, when the land is reigned by the eighth generation, power returns to the cult once again. The name of their leader is Saddler.

Why did the parasite that was supposed to be sealed away, return to life?

A CHANCE FOR A CULT THAT HAD LOST ITS POWER. THE SWEET WORDS

THAT HEALED THE WOUNDS OF THE EIGHTH LORD.

Ramon, the 8th Lord of the castle, had a devoted butler, but no family. This gap in his heart was filled by Saddler. He was convinced that the cult had been supressed by the first lord of the castle and had lost its true power. As an atonement, he unleashes the ‘Plaga’, which had been sealed away by the Salazar family for generations and offers this power to Saddler under the belief the world will be saved.

A CULT WITH THE POWER TO RULE THE WORLD. A PRELUDE TO THE

COLLAPSE OF DEMOCRACY.

Saddler uses the Plaga to parasitize all the believers and begins to exert control. He establishes a command system with Ramon and the village chief at its core, with an ambition to eventually rule the world. To begin with, they abduct the daughter of the President of the United States, planning to raise funds and send parasites to the United States.

FEAR OF THE PLAGA PARASITE

A parasite with three main characteristics inhabits the human central nervous system and deprives them of their freedom

ACCIDENTAL REVIVAL OF THE SLUMBERING PLAGA AWAKENS TRUE POWER

One day, Ramon, the eighth lord of the castle, sent the villagers to excavate the sealed power of the cult. The Plagas that were found were still in their original state, but all of them were mummified, and it was believed it would be almost impossible to revive its true power.

A few years later, unexplained seizures began to occur among the villagers engaged in the excavation. They suddenly became violent and attacked people. At the time of the excavation, the juvenile Plaga had survived in a dormant state as microscopic spores and were inhaled and then revived inside the bodies of the villagers. Now the Plaga which was thought to be so difficult to regenerate, was revived. Luis Sera, who was proceeding with further excavation and research, was hired as a researcher, and is fascinated by this unknown parasite.

BUILDING A WORLD THAT RULES EVERYTHING USING THE UNEXPECTED

CHARACTERISTICS OF PLAGAS.

The study of the Plaga by the cult revealed three distinct characteristics. One is that the host can be controlled. The second is that it is a eusocial organism that forms a society like ants and bees. The third is its capability to infect a wide variety of organisms. They can be injected into an organism as an egg and grow inside the body to reach maturity, thus completing the parasitism.

Humans who have lost their consciousness after being taken over by the parasite are known as ‘Ganados’ and are controlled by the power of the parasite in Dominant Plaga hosts. The reason for this is because Dominant Plaga hosts can retain consciousness even when parasitised. When considering the aforementioned characteristics, it can be understood how different organisms can form interlinked societies, and how everything can be controlled under the palm of the Dominant Plaga host.

  • Saddler has appointed his loyal subordinates in executive positions and turned them into Dominant Plaga hosts.
  • Excavated materials reveal insight into the Plaga from the past which was sealed by the Salazar family for generations.
  • A drug was developed that can inhibit the growth of eggs once they hatch in the body.
  • It is also possibly to kill them surgically with a special radiation. However, it can be painful.

THE UNKNOWN POWER OF THE PLAGA. THE VALUE OF THE SAMPLE, THE LIFE’S BLOOD OF THE CULT.

The research on the Plaga advanced further, with applied experimentation on a wide variety of organisms. Several achievements were made, including ‘Del Lago’ a Ganado comprised of a giant salamander living in the lake, and ‘Colmillos’, a Ganado originally converted from a wolf.

Of them all, the ‘Regenerador’ is what stands out the most. It is the result of a human host parasitized by multiple Plagas. It has outstanding metabolic capacity and can instantly regenerate body tissues even if destroyed.

Given that all of these can be controlled by the Dominant Species, it can be inferred that the sample has tremendous value and is comparable to the B.O.W. once developed by Umbrella.

VILLAGER GANADO:

They are loyal to the control of the Dominant Species and act primarily in groups. They attack not only with their bare hands, but also with various weapons such as axes, sickles, spades, knives, dynamite and so on. Those equipped with a chainsaw are especially dangerous.

EL GIGANTE:

Created by an applied experiment and impossible to believe it was once a human being thanks to its huge appearance. They are very strong, but control is somewhat ineffective, and it would twist and crush many of its fellow Ganado.

FANATICS/MILITIA:

They possess more special training than the villagers and have better combat ability. They also utilise more advanced and modern weapons such as trebuchets, fixed artillery turrets including Gatling Guns, and rocket launchers.
