Complete Eradication of UM26E.

As a blood-red sunset cast an ominous stain across the landscape, several black helicopters lifted off under direct orders from headquarters. Their mission, carried out by operatives known as the “Cleaners,” was the extermination of any surviving residents and the complete eradication of the designated area. Inside the aircraft, a full squad of soldiers clad in jet-black special equipment—matching the helicopters themselves—stood lined up against both walls.

The soldiers waited motionlessly. Their forearms were unnaturally long for human beings. From a device installed in the center of the cabin, slender cables extended to the soldiers’ heads, and the LED lights on their goggles flickered irregularly from time to time.

“Life created for the sole purpose of dying… What an ironic existence.”

As he gazed at his subordinates undergoing their final adjustments and mission programming before deployment, the squad commander muttered to himself.

Several hours later, he alone would be the only one returning to the helicopter.

The helicopters pressed onward through the twilight, where the sky gradually shifted from crimson to deep black, and emerged over the sea. Below them stretched the vast ocean, softly murmuring beneath the fading light of a sun that was on the verge of disappearing. The formation of helicopters then altered course toward the west and, before long, vanished into the night sky as though dissolving into it.

In October 1998, the small industrial city of Raccoon City in the American Midwest literally vanished from the map. It was the result of measures taken by the United States government to contain a massive outbreak of a deadly epidemic.

At around the same time, in another provincial city…

A large truck had crashed into the side of Main Street and was engulfed in flames. Yet there was no sign of any fire engines rushing to the scene. Several figures could be seen nearby, but for some reason they seemed completely unconcerned by the situation. Apart from the occasional crackling of the flames and faint noises that drifted on the wind—sounds that could have been groans or screams—the town was enveloped in an unnaturally profound silence.

Suddenly, with a deafening roar, a helicopter appeared in the night sky. However, after passing over a building bearing a corporate logo marked with an umbrella symbol, the helicopter abruptly lost control and began spiralling down toward the city streets. The brief flash of light that illuminated the area at the moment of impact caused a man walking through a back alley to look up. Even though white ribs protruded from a gaping wound in his chest, the man showed little concern for his condition. Instead, he staggered aimlessly toward the crash site.

Who am I? Where am I?

This is the world surrounding a protagonist who has lost all of his memories.

Everything is shrouded in mystery.

In the dilapidated town, creatures that are no longer human roam the streets…

Where is this place?

What has happened here?

The few survivors he occasionally encounters call him a murderer and treat him with hatred and contempt.

Is he truly Vincent the killer…?

What awaits him beyond this point?

Relief and hope?

Or a terrifying truth?

For now, there is only one thing he can do: Trust the gun in his hand and keep moving forward.

The Amnesiac Young Man – The Protagonist

The main protagonist of the story. After losing all his memories as a result of a helicopter crash, he becomes caught up in the events of this incident. For him, the most important objectives are simple: somehow survive and escape from the city overrun by monsters and recover the memories he has lost. In time, he will uncover the shocking secret hidden within this town… For some reason, however, he is highly skilled in the use of firearms. Relying on that expertise, he fights his way through the city of death.

A Man with a Connection to the Protagonist – The Mysterious Man

The first person the protagonist encounters in this town. He is lying face-down in an alleyway, completely motionless. …Is he already dead? Clutched tightly in his hand is a name tag bearing the name “Ark Thompson.” The protagonist seems to have had some sort of connection with this man in the white uniform. He feels a faint sense of recognition upon seeing him. However, the haze clouding his fragmented memories remains as thick as ever, preventing him from recalling anything more.

The Recluse of the Underground – Andy

A middle-aged man who calls the protagonist “Vincent the murderer” and openly displays both fear and hostility toward him. He works as the caretaker of the city’s sewer system. His hobby is photographing objects that wash into the sewers with a Polaroid camera, and the walls of his maintenance room are covered from floor to ceiling with an assortment of photographs. The abnormal events now engulfing the city have pushed his sanity to the very brink of madness.

The Boy Who Knows the Protagonist’s Past – Lott

A young boy with unusually sharp, piercing eyes for someone his age. The protagonist meets him in a room deep within the city’s sewer system. Lott appears to know something about the protagonist’s life before he lost his memory. Terrified that the protagonist might kill him, he fears him far more than seems reasonable and desperately tries to flee. Brandishing his favourite baseball bat, he refuses to listen to a single word the protagonist says.

A Helpless Girl Fleeing in Terror – Lily

A young girl who appears to be no older than ten years old, encountered by the protagonist in a massive building located in the center of the city. She looks like an ordinary child, distinguished by her overalls decorated with a teddy-bear patch and her hair tied into pigtails. Somehow, she has managed to survive amid the ongoing nightmare by hiding from danger whenever possible.

Completely overwhelmed by fear, she too attempts to run away from the protagonist the moment they meet.

The Unknown Death Squad – Unknown Force

A mysterious military unit clad in black combat gear and equipped with night-vision scopes and submachine guns fitted with laser sights. The squad is led by a tall man who wears a distinctive, red-lensed scope over one eye. For reasons unknown, they relentlessly hunt down and kill the monsters roaming the city without hesitation. However, it does not appear that they are acting to protect the city from these creatures. The remaining survivors of the city—including women and children—are also among their targets. In other words, they are nothing less than a band of ruthless killers.

THE TRUTH:

Character Profiles:

The distorted memories born from panic and deception have now been stripped away. Here, the true nature of the characters from Resident Evil Survivor can finally be revealed.

Ark Thompson

A young private detective with a strong sense of justice and a friend of Leon S. Kennedy, who formerly served with the Raccoon Police Department. At Leon’s request, Ark infiltrated Sheena Island alone to investigate Umbrella’s activities and uncover its conspiracy. After eventually discovering the company’s sinister plans within the Umbrella Building, Ark succeeded in destroying part of the research data. However, he was cornered by Vincent himself, the island’s commander. Ark managed to steal a helicopter and escape, but Vincent pursued him relentlessly. During the chase, Ark’s helicopter was shot down, and he lost his memory in the resulting crash. Ironically, shortly after arriving on Sheena Island, Ark had falsely introduced himself to the sewer supervisor Andy as Commander Vincent in order to facilitate his investigation. That deception would later come back to haunt him. After losing his memory, he found himself hunted and mistrusted because of the very lie he had told while undercover.

Vincent Goldman

A young elite employee of Umbrella Corporation who was appointed commander of the island following the sudden death of his predecessor. Both a brilliant leader and an innovative scientist, Vincent secretly began conducting biological experiments within the island’s facilities—research so confidential that even the company itself was not officially informed.

Cruel by nature, he has no hesitation in eliminating colleagues who stand in the way of his advancement or in using countless human beings as disposable test subjects. Even escaped experimental subjects are personally hunted down and shot by Vincent as casually as one might crush insects. His atrocities became so extreme that not only the island’s residents but even Umbrella employees came to fear him. Many sought to strip him of his command by exposing his excessive brutality and needless acts of cruelty. However, Vincent learned of these plans before they could be reported to headquarters. To cover up the truth, he released the T-Virus throughout the city, transforming the entire population into zombies. With no living witnesses left, there would be no one capable of exposing his crimes. The dead tell no tales.

Yet Vincent was mistaken in one respect. Umbrella headquarters was already aware of the secret experiments he had been conducting. Rather than stopping him, the company had deliberately turned a blind eye and allowed his research to continue.

Lott Klein

A twelve-year-old boy whose father serves as director of the Umbrella Genetic Engineering Research Laboratory on Sheena Island. From the time he was old enough to understand the world around him, Lott was raised on his father’s teachings about biological selection and the superiority and inferiority of different groups of people. As a result, he became deeply indoctrinated with the belief that “superior” Umbrella personnel were naturally entitled to rule over “inferior” ordinary people. It was therefore only natural, from his perspective, that he informed Vincent—the island’s supreme commander—that the townspeople were plotting rebellion and that a private detective named Ark Thompson was investigating Vincent’s activities. However, those actions helped set in motion the tragic events that followed.

When the incident erupted, Lott witnessed his own parents transform into monsters before his eyes. Upon learning that Vincent himself was responsible for the catastrophe, everything he had believed in for years came crashing down. Now, Lott is consumed by fear and confusion. His sense of helplessness and guilt clashes with his desperate attempts to justify his own actions, leaving him emotionally torn and unable to reconcile the truth with the beliefs that once defined him.

Lily Klein

Lott’s younger sister. Until just two days ago, she was an ordinary eight-year-old girl living a happy life, surrounded by her strong father, her kind mother, and her beloved older brother.

When the incident began, Lily obeyed her parents’ final command without hesitation: run and escape as quickly as possible. Following their instructions, she fled to the Umbrella Building before the situation worsened and narrowly avoided the disaster that consumed the city.

Afterward, she remained hidden, trembling like a frightened kitten as the sounds of screams, gunfire, and chaos echoed throughout the town. She stayed concealed until the cries and commotion that engulfed the city finally faded away. Although she eventually managed to reunite with Lott, she was forced to face a heartbreaking reality: her brother was now the only person she had left to rely on in the world.

Andy Holland

An American hired by Umbrella Pharmaceuticals to maintain and inspect the island’s sewage treatment facilities—an aging system so outdated that virtually no one else was capable of repairing it. In truth, Andy is a convicted criminal with a long history of offenses, including theft, robbery, and assault. Although he found it suspicious that a corporation like Umbrella would offer someone like him a job, he ultimately accepted, believing it would provide a better life than the one he was living. Leaving behind an apartment where he was already behind on the rent, he moved to Sheena Island in search of a fresh start. Because he spends most of the year alone in the dark tunnels of the sewer system, which also serves as his workplace, Andy has little understanding of Umbrella’s true nature or the activities taking place elsewhere on the island.

In fact, he is far more interested in an unusual hobby: photographing the everyday trash that washes through the sewers from the town above. This eccentric obsession makes him seem detached from the ordinary world—a peculiar and somewhat isolated man whose fascination with discarded objects outweighs any curiosity about the powerful corporation that employs him.

Umbrella Trashsweepers

Also known as Umbrella’s “Trash Sweepers,” these are expendable evidence-eradication units deployed only for top-secret incidents classified as Threat Level A+.

Their operations consist of two stages:

  1. Elimination of all witnesses
  2. Destruction of the target area through detonation

The unit is composed of artificially created biological soldiers armed with MP5 submachine guns and monocular night-vision scopes. They are led by a single human officer known as the Commander. Once the mission is complete, the bio-engineered soldiers are programmed to destroy themselves according to preinstalled orders. Only the Commander is permitted to return alive. In the Sheena Island incident, their assignment was to conceal the biohazard disaster caused by Commander Vincent’s actions. They had been ordered to erase all evidence of the outbreak and destroy the entire island by activating the research facility’s self-destruct system. The mission’s objective was not rescue, containment, or protection of survivors. It was the complete elimination of every witness and every trace of what had happened.

Sheena Island – The Setting of the Story

The story takes place on Sheena Island, a remote island that serves as one of the research facilities operated by the infamous pharmaceutical giant Umbrella Corporation.

Umbrella is known throughout the world as an international corporation. Its name was chosen to symbolize the idea of “providing shelter beneath an umbrella to all people.” However, behind this benevolent image lies a far darker reality. In truth, Umbrella is a merchant of death, secretly engaged in the development of biological weapons. The company’s experimental facilities are scattered across the globe, and Sheena Island—an isolated island in Europe—is one such installation. The island houses a massive weapons-production complex operated by Umbrella.

Umbrella purchased the island’s town in its entirety and populated it with researchers, technicians, and their families, effectively turning the community into a company-controlled settlement. Research on Sheena Island is focused primarily on the development and refinement of Umbrella’s flagship biological weapon, the Tyrant. There, scientists continue working to improve and perfect the Tyrant project, pushing the limits of Umbrella’s bio-organic weapons research even further.

B.O.W. Profile

B.O.W. (Bio Organic Weapon) is the collective term used for the biological weapons developed by Umbrella Corporation. The following are B.O.W.s confirmed to exist on Sheena Island.

What Is the T-Virus?

The T-Virus is one of the artificial viruses created by Umbrella Pharmaceuticals, possessing the ability to rapidly alter living organisms. Organisms infected with the T-Virus undergo dramatic physical transformations. Their bodies often grow larger, gain extraordinary durability, and acquire new abilities that would be impossible through natural evolution alone. These properties make the virus an ideal foundation for the creation of biological weapons. However, the virus also produces severe side effects. Infected subjects become abnormally aggressive, while their intelligence deteriorates significantly. As a result, Umbrella’s primary challenge is developing effective methods of controlling infected organisms while preserving enough intelligence for them to function as practical weapons. The T-Virus also possesses the ability to facilitate genetic fusion between different species with relative ease. Because of this, Umbrella mass-produces the virus and distributes it throughout its research facilities as a fundamental resource for the development of new B.O.W.s.

Zombie

Humans infected by the T-Virus released by Vincent. They have lost both reason and the ability to think clearly, wandering aimlessly in search of human flesh, driven by an overwhelming hunger. Their bodies suffer severe metabolic abnormalities and gradually decay, giving them the appearance of walking corpses. There are also artificially created variants known as Modified Zombies, produced by deliberately administering the T-Virus to test subjects.

Zombie Dog

Police and military dogs that have been infected with the T-Virus. Like human zombies, they possess a rotting appearance, but unlike their human counterparts, their agility remains virtually unaffected. Fast and ferocious, they attack by lunging at their victims and tearing into them with their jaws.

Giant Spider

A spider that has grown to an enormous size due to exposure to the leaked T-Virus. It kills its prey by spraying venom.

Crow

Crows that became secondarily infected with the T-Virus after feeding on the flesh of dead zombies and other infected corpses. The virus causes them to grow larger and become far more aggressive. Because they attack in flocks, they are considered extremely dangerous.

Licker

A mutant form of zombie that has undergone further transformation through continued T-Virus infection. Both its appearance and behavior have lost all traces of humanity. Moving on all fours, it crawls across floors, walls, and ceilings, attacking with oversized claws and a long whip-like tongue. Its visual organs have degenerated and disappeared entirely, but this loss is compensated by an extraordinarily heightened sense of hearing. As a result, Lickers react instantly to sounds made by potential prey and attack with deadly speed. The name “Licker” was originally a nickname given by members of the Raccoon Police Department, who first encountered the creature. The name refers to its long tongue and literally means “one who licks.”

Giant Moth

A moth grotesquely enlarged and mutated by the effects of the T-Virus. It drifts awkwardly through the air, scattering clouds of scales as it flies.

Large Roach

A giant cockroach, approximately 30 centimetres (about 12 inches) in length, altered by exposure to the T-Virus. They live in large swarms throughout the sewer system.

Alligator

A crocodilian reptile that originally inhabited the sewers. Under the influence of the T-Virus, it has grown into a monstrous creature exceeding ten meters (over 30 feet) in length.

Hunter

A B.O.W. developed using human genetic material as its base. Hunters are agile monsters possessing tremendous jumping ability and razor-sharp claws. They are also relatively intelligent, capable of understanding simple commands and even coordinating their actions with other Hunters. Because of their high level of completion and practical military value, Hunters have already been mass-produced in significant numbers. Improved variants are also being developed at other Umbrella Corporation research facilities.

Ivy

A plant-based B.O.W. By absorbing moisture directly from the air through its outer surface, Ivy can move about freely without needing to root itself in the ground. It advances slowly while writhing its vine-like tendrils and attacks by spitting highly acidic mucus at its prey.

Tyrant

The ultimate T-Virus B.O.W. and the project to which Umbrella Corporation devotes the greatest amount of research and development effort. Tyrants possess a largely human appearance, overwhelming destructive power, and enough intelligence to faithfully carry out orders. As a result, they are considered among the most practical and effective biological weapons ever created. Because of their military value, numerous variants of the Tyrant have been researched at Umbrella facilities around the world. On Sheena Island, the weapons factory’s primary objective was to establish a system capable of mass-producing improved Tyrant models.

Hypnos-T Type

Commander Vincent was secretly pursuing his own independent project to create a new generation of B.O.W. The concept behind the project was simple but brutal: Countless different cell types would be forced to compete against one another. The surviving cells would then be pitted against other survivors repeatedly, selecting only the strongest genetic traits at each stage. Those superior genes would ultimately be incorporated into Tyrant DNA to create the most powerful B.O.W. possible. Over a period of roughly three weeks, hundreds of thousands of genetic selection experiments were conducted. The testing continued day and night without interruption. Then, during a brief moment when the exhausted scientists succumbed to sleep, one particular cell eliminated all of the others. The researchers named the genetic material of this extraordinary survivor Hypnos, after the Greek god of sleep. Using the genes derived from Hypnos, Vincent’s project succeeded in creating a prototype B.O.W. that was smaller than conventional Tyrants while possessing even greater combat potential.

Background

The Hypnos-T project reflects Vincent Goldman’s obsession with genetic superiority and biological selection. Unlike standard Tyrants, which were already considered among Umbrella’s most successful weapons, the Hypnos-T Type was designed to push those concepts even further by allowing evolutionary competition itself to determine the strongest possible genetic foundation. The result was a compact but exceptionally powerful prototype, representing the culmination of Vincent’s secret experiments on Sheena Island and one of the most dangerous B.O.W.s ever produced there.
