Joint Nations Space Research Station
The Joint Nations Space Research Station was, as the name implies, a space research facility built and operated by multiple countries. It’s main purpose as a research facility is unclear but one particular use appears to be the monitoring of virus’ in space.
Similar to other space stations, the facility is in constant use by different researchers with regular shift changes occurring between them.
In 2009, an American scientist, Dr Omre, who was onboard the JNSRS, presumably with other researchers, reported his concerns to ground control that the facility was being used to develop B.O.W’s. Dr Omre did not know who was doing this however, but the call generated sufficient concern within the United Nations and indeed the B.S.A.A.
Seven days later, the B.S.A.A were able to sanction a mission to investigate after all communication with Dr. Omre ceased. B.S.A.A agent, Mina Gere onboard the Wayfarer, piloted a shuttle rover and boarded the JNSRS.
Her investigations did indeed reveal the existence of B.O.Ws in space, namely, Lickers and Zombies. The Licker specifically, appeared to have been intentionally developed. Agent Gere was able access Dr Omre’s files and notes where she discovered that the B.O.W research team had also acquired a G-Virus sample and were testing this (as well as the T-Virus) when exposed to cosmic radiation.
The G-sample however was on board a separate satellite leaving Gere exposed to the creatures on board the JNSRS. This included a Cnidaria based creature, dubbed Hydra that had feasted on the researchers onboard. It can be assumed that this was the creature that caused the outbreak.
Gere was able to isolate the creature and take decisive action in destroying the facility. Taking the cooling system offline and setting the atmosphere within the facility to vent hydrogen set the timer for an interstellar explosion. Escaping from the airlock just in time, Gere was rescued by the Wayfarer ensuring the JNSRS caused no further harm. The lost satellite however would crash land to Earth in Grezbekistan and lead to a small G-Virus outbreak…
