Meg
Meg (surname unknown) was a young women resident within the Arklay County, specifically in the outskirts of Stoneville and within viewing distance of the high rise buildings of Raccoon City. She lived in a small building with her grandfather Jim.
Born in 1980, Meg would endure a very troubled childhood mainly at the hands over her abusive father. Her father was known to be violent towards both herself and Meg’s mother. In 1990 after a decade of this her mother fled to New York, leaving Meg alone with her father. This left her suffering from significant childhood trauma.
One year later however, Meg’s father would perish at the hands of a drunk driver. At this point, Meg was handed over to Jim, her grandfather to raise in the small town of Stoneville. The pair would form a strong bond and for the next 7 years would have a much happier time of it.
On the evening of 1st October 1998 Meg, along with her grandfather were watching on with horror as Raccoon City burned from its destruction. Suddenly, Sherry Birkin emerged from the foliage scared and confused. Meg and Jim take Sherry in who explains that the city was not destroyed by fire. In that moment, Umbrella attack the dwelling peppering bullets at the property. The three take shelter but Jim is killed in the crossfire.
Meg and Sherry flee through the backdoor and to the car where the pair make their escape. Success is short lived as Meg drives far too eratically and crashes down a ravine towards the river. Laying by the riverside, exhausted. Sherry recounts her tale of meeting Leon and Claire in Raccoon City and her encounter with the undead.
Continuing on, the pair eventually arrive at another dwelling – owned by a local man – Robert. However, the place is empty. The two inspect the home and to their shock see blood everywhere. Scared, Sherry runs out the door to be confronted by Sheriff Alan of Stoneville. He comforts the girls and the three head back in the patrol car to Meg’s home. Here they discover that Jim’s body is missing! He then takes Meg and Sherry to Stoneville Police Station to rest.
The next morning – 2nd October 1998 Meg awakens with Sherry in the police station. They hear talking and the two enter into the office where Sherrif Alan and another Officer, known as Guy are talking about the previous night’s events. Meg confirms she has no family nearby and says her closest is in Toronto, Canada. Sherry also confirms her orphan status and Meg has to comfort a tearful Sherry.
Concerned about the rumours of the undead, Alan decides that he must visit what’s left of Raccoon City and decides to take Meg along with him. The two get into the squad car and make the journey. As the travel, they notice a large convoy of miliary looking vehicles and helicopters. Concern rises more when the Sheriff is asked to turn around at a checkpoint. The convoy do not appear to be US Army.
Alan decides to take matters into his own hands and drives off road towards the doomed city. It’s a bumpy ride but the two soon reach the outskirts. Here they discover more military and soldiers in hazmat suits, armed with flamethrowers. They overhear orders from “Black Tiger” to incinerate anything that moves and indeed Meg and Alan witness surviving zombies be burnt alive.
Fearing the worst, the pair quickly head back into the car and flee. They are spotted and an Umbrella helicopter takes aim at the car. Swerving to avoid the bullets, he crashes the car in the forest. Meg escapes the wreckage with Alan shouting to the girl to run! She does just that.
Meg walks and walks, not really knowing where to go. As she descends further she becomes the attention of Zombies who surround her, ready to feast. As the clock ticks past midnight and now into the 3rd October, Officer Guy emerges from the dark rescuing her. Alan then arrives and the 4 all head back to Stoneville – Alan wishing to call an urgent town meeting.
Later that evening, the town meeting is called – Mayor Finch wishing to align himself with Umbrella more to gain their funding. He brands Claire Redfield a criminal. Meg is watching all this with disbelief – as is Alan who has to use his gun to bring order to proceedings – especially after the Mayor confirms that the Sheriff has Sherry – someone who Umbrella are looking for.
Alan’s attempts are futile and the townfolk demand Sherry is relinquished. Alan, Meg and Sherry take shelter in the Sherrif’s office again to escape the rowdy crowd where they spend all night.
Meg awakes on the 4th October to carnage. Klaxons are blaring – Stoneville is now overrun with Zombies. The three are caught amongst it all and have to climb out of the office window to the roof of the police station. Umbrella helicopter flow overhead and unleash napalm – only adding to the horror.
Nowhere is safe, so the three jump down from the roof and escape the main street heading towards a factory that Alan is certain will have a truck that can be used. Arriving at the factory, the gate is locked but Sherry and Meg use Alan to climb over the fence and into the garage where, as suspected, a truck awaits, ignition in tow.
Just as the two get there, Umbrella forces, most likely USS arrive on the scene, searching for Sherry. Meg and Sherry hide in the truck. Alan takes action now, shooting at the USS allowing him access to the truck. A moment of relief as the truck starts, but a grenade and explostion hault all progress. All three exit and once again make a run for it.
The three decide the timber yard could be a good option as it is located near the river. Meg realises that she can use the wood on site to make a raft. It is now that Alan reveals he has been bitten and will soon turn. He explains that he will give them time to flee and reveals his backstory as an NYPD officer and how helping the two girls now is the right thing to do.
Timely, as a hoard of Zombies approach. Meg and Sherry board their raft as Alan empties gas cannisters all over the yard (and himself) before lighting. The subseuqent explostion also takes out the USS’s helicopter.
Meg and Sherry float away and the pair decide they should both move to Canada.
It is unknown as to what happened to Meg after this. Sherry reunites with Leon and is taken into protective custody by the US Government. It can be assumed that as Meg had no target on her back, she did indeed end up in Canada with family.
