Meset

The Mesets is a creature that results from high-level mutation brought on by exposure to the C-Virus and is derived from the Serbian word for “moonlight.” Mesets resembles a human-sized crow and has the ability to fly and chase after prey. It prefers the flesh of cadavers to living organisms, so it rarely eats its prey after capturing Instead, it will release its prey from high in the air in order to kill it.

Mesets will then roost over the corpse and peck away at its flesh. It is one of the few high-level mutations that can use tools. It has also been known to drop steel drums and other objects from the sky when hunting its prey. Its preferred method of hunting is to seek out its target by making large swooping circles in the sky. Its wings are like that of a crow, but its legs remain distinctly insectoid. It has six jagged talons to grab hold of its prey and even when they are pulled back, the talons stick out and dangle a little. When attacking, the chest opens, and these talons come out even further. Interestingly the creature’s head and legs are oppositely orientated, meaning it has a shape that a human fits into perfectly. Mesets are one of the rarer Complete Mutation Species and are renowned for their sharpened eyesight and intelligence over other mutations of its type. But although they show promise, they have an unusual side-effect of being extremely vulnerable to bright light. Tests have shown that when exposed to the blast of a flash grenade, Mesets will be killed instantly.

Neo-Umbrella conducted field tests in December 2012 during the Edonia civil war and several batches were released onto the mountains to hunt down guinea pigs.
