Saint Vale

Saint Vale was a large undergound facility owned and operated by Umbrella deep within the Arklay Mountain area. It served as a major facility, conducting illegal experimentation with many viruses from around the world.

Saint Vale was classified as Biosafety level 4 facility with what was deemed as high-risk research. The security protocols were extremely high and was considered to be the culmination of Umbrella’s wealth and technology. Due to the nature of the research it was built deep within the Arklay Mountains with the vast majority of the structure underground. Only ventilation shafts and security buildings were on the surface to conceal the facility below.

Constructed with reinforced concrete and steel, it was designed to withstand natural disasters should they occur. It can only be assumed that it connected at the nearby P-213 Facility.

Inside the facility, Saint Vale housed many laboratories where dangerous experiments took place including that of the Mortem project. Little is known of the origins of this bioweapon but the creature was housed at the facility.

In September 1998 Saint Vale, like most of the surrounding area was affected by the T-Virus outbreak. It can assumed that an infected individual entered the facility causing the virus to spread internally. During the subsequent chaos, Mortem escaped from its holding area and subsequently wiped out the remaining Umbrella staff.

Despite this, the durability of the facility remains intact and the building still remains hidden in the mountain range. The facility even survived the Raccoon City bombing, but the threat of Mortem remained. Equally, Umbrella data and research remains obtainable and a potential source of great interest to rival organisations.
